PaperOne™: Hi Mr. Giantoro, pleased to meet you. Let’s start with you telling us more about yourself and PT. Mitra Eka Persada!

Mr. Giantoro: Hello, the pleasure is all mine! My name is Giantoro, I am the Director of PT. Mitra Eka Persada and have been in the paper industry for more than 40 years. Our company first started back in 1991 and a few years later we came to know about APRIL Group when one of our suppliers, Suparma, started distributing APRIL paper. In 1998, we became one of the first distributors for APRIL Group’s HVS paper, and are still at it even till today!

PaperOne™: Wow, it seems like your company and APRIL Group go way back. What do you think makes PT. Mitra Eka Persada different from its competitors?

Mr. Giantoro: I would say that our key competitive advantages are primarily our strategic location and our employees. Having our warehouses located in several areas across Indonesia such as Jakarta, Bandung and Surabaya, this helps us attain a wider reach and accessibility to customers all over the country, allowing us to also achieve faster delivery times as well. Furthermore, we are the only distributor that sells APRIL products exclusively, which is evident of our commitment to APRIL Group.

PaperOne™: Thank you for your trust and loyalty, we are very honoured - truly. You mentioned that your employees play a crucial role in differentiating your company as well. Could you elaborate on that?

Mr. Giantoro: Sure, we have been trying to build an inside-out culture whereby more focus is given to the employees, making sure that their needs are first and foremost well taken care of. I think this has worked well for us as most of our employees have been with the company since the beginning. This also helps us to establish very strong relationships and bonds with our valued and long-time customers. In addition to that, we also try to help the communities that our businesses are operating in as much as possible.

PaperOne™: That’s wonderful, what an impressive culture you have built! How has your experience been working with APRIL Group?

Mr. Giantoro: As mentioned, we’ve been a partner with APRIL Group for a long time - coming to 25 years! It’s no surprise that this working relationship has lasted so long because we value the quality of APRIL’s paper products. From the high white shade to the thickness of the paper, we believe in giving our customers only the best quality products in the market. As such, we carry an extensive range of offset and cut-size paper products from APRIL Group. Plus, APRIL’s papers are PEFC approved - this gives us the assurance that the products we sell are obtained from sustainable sources and are environmentally friendly.

PaperOne™: Thank you for your kind words, we’re glad you see the value in our products. Given today’s shift toward paperless mediums such as e-magazines, e-books and e-statements, how do you think the pulp and paper industry will be impacted?

Mr. Giantoro: It has definitely impacted the pulp and paper industry for sure. With everything going online these days, we are already seeing an increase in demand and usage of food grade paper and packaging paper. As such, together with APRIL Group, our company will be adding board paper to our range of products in order to adapt to these changes and meet this demand. However, despite all the changes in the industry, I also believe that paper can never truly be replaced. In fact, all extraordinary things seem to have their beginnings on paper - whether it’s art, ideas, music or even the construction of buildings, it all starts from a piece of paper! Not many people realise just how important a role paper plays in our lives, even in the midst of emerging technologies.
